Our Monday night Pilates class is suitable for those new to Pilates as well as those those with a little Pilates experience, returning to Pilates or just wishing to practice at a foundation level class. It's a great way to improve posture, strengthen your core, cross train for other sports and create balance in body and mind.

6 reasons to do Pilates

1. You'll strengthen your Powerhouse. In Pilates our powerhouse represents your abdominal, pelvic and back muscles - what is sometimes referred to as the core, but really involves much more than just your abs. You'll create deep strength and stability in this area.
2. Posture - in an age of technology when many of us are sitting at a desk through the day and are regularly looking at phones, we need to do whatever we can to improve our posture, strengthen postural muscles and stand up taller - Pilates will help with all of this.
3. Cross training - if you're an athlete of any sort Pilates will up your game - it will give you that secret power. That's why so many top athletes include Pilates as part of their training.
3. Had a baby? Do Pilates. It will help you reconnect with your abdominal muscles, create space around your upper body, and help right postural issues that may have come up during pregnancy, as well as helping stabilise your pelvis.
4. Breath - body - mind connection - by concentrating and moving mindfully we learn more about our bodies. It's an hour off whatever else you have going on - breathing and moving mindfully. Which can help ease stress too!
5. Protecting your body - Pilates can help prevent injuries and generic back pain. We create strength in the muscles supporting the spine, and also encourage regular movement in all directions to create balance in your body, all of which can help prevent pain and injury.
6. Pilates makes you feel good. The first couple of classes may challenge you and put you out of your comfort zone, mentally, physically or both - but over time you'll feel that inner glow, vitality and general feel good factor that comes from regular Pilates.
